Hunchback Brings Luck

At the exact place where the building at 3 Dalmatinski Sabor Street is today, there used to be one of the three legendary Zadar pharmacies working since 1600. In the beginning it was called Alla Fortuna, and from 1808 All Redentore (To the Saviour), based on the old title of a nearby church. It was destroyed in the bombing of the city in 1943. All that was left of it is the statue of the Hunchback. It was sculpted into the corner of the new house, as a reminder of the old pharmacy and the belief that the hunch brings luck to whomever touches it (gobbo portafortuna).
