From April 5th to 10th, the most significant annual gastronomic and tourist event of the Zadar Tourist Board will take place – the Tuna, Sushi & Wine Festival.
The eighth edition of this multi-day festival of fish and wine will mark its grand return to the premises of the Zadar Arsenal. This also means that the Ilirija Biograd will once again become the main partner of the Zadar Tourist Board in organizing the event this year. Additionally, this year, the festival will be joined by all the major Zadar companies in the field of fishing and mariculture: Pelagos Net Farm, Jadran Tuna, Kali Tuna, Cromaris, and Marikomerc. Alongside Ilirija and these companies, the festival's partner will be the Zadar County Winemakers Association Vina ZaDar, consisting of the 25 most important winemakers of this county.
This year's eighth edition of the Tuna, Sushi & Wine Festival merges fishing, tradition, mariculture, culinary arts, gastronomy, and the top wines of the region in two separate parts, both in content and space. The first part will be a grand gastronomic event at the Arsenal on Friday, April 5th, starting at 8 p.m. The Arsenal's multi-level area will be transformed into an exclusive restaurant space serving a four-course dinner, featuring main ingredients from the assortment of mariculture companies partnering with the festival.
The partnership segment of the festival at the Arsenal is conceived as a more relaxed event with a variety of food corners, where all partner companies will present their food products, chefs, and dishes. It will be a combination of creative finger foods made from different fish ingredients, including various versions of sushi and other dishes from the rich Japanese culinary heritage. The evening at the Arsenal will be enhanced by a concert by Danijela Martinović.
For this major event at the Arsenal, in both its parts, it will be necessary to obtain tickets in advance through the Entrio and Eventim web services and at the Arsenal.
The second, open-air part of the festival will take place, as in previous years, at the Petar Zoranić Square. On Saturday, April 6th, the TSW Festival will be officially opened and will continue at the same square until April 10th. It will be open all day for everyone who enjoys seafood specialties, both Dalmatian and Mediterranean, or Asian, especially Japanese. Among others, at the Petar Zoranić Square, specialties will be prepared by the great master of Dalmatian creative gastronomy, Hrvoje Zirojević, and one of the best Croatian sushi masters, Mladen Križanović, the owner of the Tokyo Sushi Academy certificate, which operates within the most important place in the world's fishing industry – the Tsukiji Fish Market.
During these days, there will be no shortage of music and other activities. Elena Stella & Ante Jeličić Trio will perform at the morning opening, and in the evening, there will be a concert by the Kanella group. On Sunday, April 7th, there will be a concert by Urbana, and for the final day, Wednesday, April 10th, the popular Natali Dizdar is scheduled to perform.
With this year's concept, actively involving the most important Zadar mariculture companies and returning to the Arsenal, the eighth edition of the Tuna, Sushi & Wine Festival returns to its "initial settings."
