Gastronomic Tour of Advent 2024 in Zadar, Second Part

Srdela Fish Snack

This house is the only one that brings us exclusively seafood in its offer. The young team from Kali on the island of Ugljan is officially presenting itself for the first time at the Zadar Advent, and they delighted seafood lovers with the fact that they have a different cooked dish every day, of course in addition to their standard offer. They praised us for the cuttlefish with pljukanci that master Lari Longin brought to perfection, and then the crispy squid rings that came after the cuttlefish as a dessert.

Every day at the house they offer fried sardines and anchovies, fried girica, squid rings and breaded anchovies – all from the Adriatic and especially the waters of the island of Ugljan, but also various pâtés, marinated fish, grilled sardines, sea bass… In addition to the cuttlefish that we tried, the menu also changes daily with cod stew, squid maneštrun and tuna umido – cooked with parsley and onions, with homemade olive oil.

Three Pigs

The house called Three Pigs is located in front of the Skoblar tavern terrace and offers waffles on a stick, churros and sausages in various varieties. They are also debuting at this year's Advent. On recommendation, we had a warm cocktail with apple juice and cinnamon, based on a delicious apple liqueur that smells tempting, and will also be good for warming up when the temperature drops a bit.

We also tried the delicious and soft waffles that they serve on a stick, which makes them much easier to eat, and they are served with various toppings and chocolate and colorful crumbs.

Christmas Gate & Likarija

These two "sister" shops are located opposite each other on Trg Pet bunara. They offer cheese and homemade pancetta, as well as tortillas of various flavors, burgers, hot dogs, fritters with various toppings and a variety of drinks, especially at the Likarija shop, where it is intended that everyone can find their "medicine" there, so they are especially proud of their selection of brandy. Each shop has its own chef, and chef Martin, who spent the summer season in Sali on Dugi otok, this time introduced himself to us with quesadillas with chicken and jalapeno peppers that will appeal to spicy food lovers.

They also praised the homemade sausage, which was very tasty, as well as the large burger with pure beef, bacon, iceberg lettuce, pickles and a “garnish” of onion rings.

Only Positive

This little place, just as its name suggests, has a positive and smiling team that prepared a rich and delicious plate for us in no time. It included cooked homemade game that was dried in the smoke with side dishes and fresh, warm bread. What made us especially happy were the sandwiches with homemade bacon and rump steak torn into strips, in which the meat was soft and tasty and definitely worth trying. As for the side dishes, they also include tartar, cheddar cheese and cucumbers.

This little place offers various meat dishes and a selection of drinks, and can also boast the best view at this year's Advent since it is the first on Trg Pet bunara, right opposite the stage.

Petrunjella

The last house in the row from the Captain's Tower is called Petrunjella and was opened by childhood friends Luka Žilić and Matej Segarić. We noticed right away that the main decoration of the house was small basketballs, along with Christmas decorations, and we soon got an explanation – these guys have been practicing basketball together for years, they love the sport, and they come from the city of basketball.

They prepared us a delicious tortilla with chicken, cheese and vegetables, and they also offer burgers, sausages, fried sweet potatoes and fritters. The drinks list is the longest, and we heard that it is very cheerful here on weekends when the whole team comes to eat and drink something, and then sing.
