Upcoming Meat Me Festival | Butcheries Paleka

Two of Mladen Paleka's three children, brother and sister, decided to continue building this successful family business after finishing school.

Marija Tavra (formerly Paleka) is the director of Meso Market, a company that is part of the MTO Paleka group, and together with her husband she runs two butcher shops: one in the very heart of the city, on Zadar's Market Square, and one modern, recently opened on the island of Vir.

- We are engaged in retail, and in the future we plan to expand to wholesale, as well as introducing the offer of meat packaging. The father, and more recently his brother Zaharija, run the remaining two butcheries: one in Zemunik, where we also have a slaughterhouse, and the newly opened one in Višnjik, near the former SAS factory. The two of them are more oriented towards wholesale to numerous retail chains - explains Marija.

Paleka butcher shops have become synonymous for high quality meat, recognizable by carefully selected products and excellent service. Their pork and beef come exclusively from Croatian farms, while they import veal from Italy. They plan to further expand their offer through innovative products and services, always keeping the emphasis on top quality. The loyalty of long-term customers, who always return for the proven excellent meat and service, is the best indicator of the success of this family, whose tradition and commitment have lasted for more than half a century.

This October, Paleka butcher shops will be one of four butchers that will supply Zadar's restaurateurs with meat for the Meat Me Festival, where their products will be used in the preparation of top specialties that celebrate the richness of the local meat offer.
