Gastro Tour of Zadar’s Advent Huts | Part 4
We bring you the fourth and final part of this year’s tour of the gastronomic offerings at Zadar’s Advent food stalls. As the grand finale, we saved three truly special stalls, not only because of their menus but also because they are “breaking the ice” on the new stage of Advent in Zadar, called the Christmas Gramophone. The new location already showed its full potential on Saturday, as large crowds of locals eager for something new and special this holiday season began to gather from the early morning hours.
Located in the very heart of Zadar's Old Town, next to the city market on Goldsmith Street (Zlatarska ulica) and right beside the open-air stage which was inaugurated on Saturday by the electro duo Nipplepeople, these houses have a demanding task: attracting local inhabitants and guests to this new Christmas Market destination. Expanding the Advent program beyond the usual location at Petar Zorani Square and Five Wells Square is an opportunity for Zadar's hospitality scene to step up and bring life and joyful energy to a part of the city that is otherwise quiet during the winter months. The event „Pijat na pijaci“ has already made a strong start, and now the restaurateurs at the three Advent houses are continuing the momentum.

The first house is Stooša from the restaurant Pinčo, whose open-air delicacies Zadar residents had the chance to try as part of „Pijat na pijaci“ gastro event. Wanting to attract as many visitors as possible to their small terrace, they put in special effort and created two functional menus. The first is the daily one, based on brunchs that change daily. On Saturday we tried the cuttlefish stew with potatoes.

“The second part of our offer is the evening menu, when we serve selected dishes from our restaurant menu for which we are widely known. We know we'll be successful, because just as we presented the favorites from our menu at Pijat, we'll continue doing so here as well,” Paša told us.

A particularly sweet offer tailored to the wishes and tastes of the kids can be found at Mosha, the Advent house of Zadar's Backstage Bar.
“We're especially excited to present our choco cups, which slowly melt when children dip them into warm milk or cocoa, creating a magical explosion of flavor. And at the end they're left with a lollipop! We also have waffles with all kinds of toppings and sauces, as well as bubble tea,” Matea told us. In the evening, however, this offer is replaced with a festive menu for adults.

The third and final house presented at this year's Advent in Zadar is Fosha from the well-known fast-food spot Papica.
“We went for a short and clear menu. We have homemade Dalmatian „divenica“, Slavonian sausage, and three burgers. One is our classic Burgazam, the second is topped with our homemade bacon marmalade, and the third comes with a sauce of fig and plum cooked for hours in red wine and prošek. We also offer a festive panettone as a sweet treat,” Sanja concluded.
