TSW Festival | Almost 105,000 Kuna Have Been Gathered for Humanitarian Purposes

This year’s Tuna, Sushi & Wine Festival that lasted from the 16th to the 21st of May has come to an end. Even though this year’s organization was in a different and reduced form, the 6th TSWF was a successful manifestation in all of its aspects.  Being, first of all, a gastronomic festival of blue fish, i.e. dishes prepared with that group of fish from the Adriatic Sea, it gathered thousands of visitors, tourists and locals who visited Petar Zoranić Square for the tasty and not expensive dishes and good beverages during the six days the manifestation lasted.

A total sum of 104,690 was gathered from the thousands of dishes and glasses of beverages and given to humanitarian purposes – the Zadar Cancer League for the needs of Zadar General Hospital Oncology Department and for the equipment of the culinary cabinet of Zadar Hotel, Tourism and Hospitality School.

The organizer of the event, the Zadar City Tourist Board, gathered on this project a number of partners who in various ways supported and participated in the TSWF. However, the students of the Hotel, Tourism and Hospitality School and the Biograd secondary school, future cooks and waiters were the safest and most diligent participators to be pointed out in the first place. They prepared and served food and beverages with great enthusiasm and commitment and assisted the professional chefs. They performed their work under the conducting baton of prof. Renato Kraljev and other teachers: Mirko Poljak, Josip Vrsaljko, Smiljana Prtenjača, Robert Pinto, Ivan Brdar, Kristina Lončar and Katarina Čučić and from the Biograd School Petar Jureško and Marin Banović.

The restaurants that participated in preparing various dishes are: Kornat, Tratorria Mediterraneo, Foša, Četiri kantuna, Maguro, Corte, Stipe, Turisthotel kitchens, Hotel Mediteran, Angelus Catering and Sushi A's Fresh Daily company and their chefs and cooks Damir Stoiljković Pjerino, Saša Began, Klaudio Mrkić, Josip Vrsaljko, Robert Pinto, Ivan Bašić and Marin Banović.

The Gastro Market was open every day of the festival offering the products of: Nin Salt Works, Pag Cheese Factory, Zoran Jordan, Pašmanero Matulić and Damira Režan family farms.

The wines were ensured by the Zadar vintners Fiolić, Degarra and Royal Vineyards and the festival partner were: MarFish, Mišlov, Žuvela, Cromaris and Pelagos Company that donated breaded anchovies and cleaned sardines, Ožujsko pivo, Maraska, Kotanyi, Nikas, Metro, Velpro, Jamnica, Santa, Zadar Bread Factory and Toyota.

The presenters of the program were journalists Damir Granić and Nikolina Radić, and DJs Mate Kokić and Davor Valčić participated in the music part of the program with Đani Stipaničev and groups Scifidelity Orchestra and Detour

The members of the Kali Fishing Nights Association and the Puntamika Youth Society gave their special contribution to the great evening feasts of the 6th Tuna, Sushi & Wine Festival.

Tuna, Sushi & Wine Festival will surely continue next year. Regardless of the type of organization, such a gastronomy event and festival of fish and fish dishes is an important and interesting manifestation in different aspects due to the fact that it connects two economy fields of the Zadar region, fishing and tourism, but important also for the promotion of Zadar and its surroundings through gastronomy and autochthony heritage of dishes and beverages. The humanitarian and educational aspects are of an immeasurable added value.
