Zadar Top Events 2021
The concert season is returning to Zadar in style this year - after the warm-up on Narodni trg, which starts tonight with the concert of Ante Jeličić Trio & Elena Stela, concerts by Zadar performers will take place daily.
Next Friday, the "Friday festivities" start, organized by the Zadar Tourist Board in cooperation with the Zadar Chamber of Trade and under the auspices of the City of Zadar. The concept of the festivities remains unchanged and offers a pleasant atmosphere and groups singing songs in the historic centre. The residents of Zadar and visitors have the opportunity to enjoy the lovely summer atmosphere, songs and local grub.
To encourage tourism and entertainment, singing groups (klapa), street performers, and cafes remain open until midnight. On Friday, June 25, the Donat and Kantaduri klapas will sing.
The best things are coming in July, when, organized, by the Tourist Board of the City of Zadar, renowned Croatian and even world musicians, will perform at the Forum. Marko Tolja has a concert on Friday, 2 July, at 9 pm, and Vanna sings on Sunday, 10 July. From Wednesday 14 July to Saturday 17 July, shows occur on stage at the Forum every evening: on 14 July Urban comes, on 15 July the Cambi group, on 16 July Amira Medunjanin, on Saturday 17 July Zorica Kondža and a week later Miro Ungar.
The world's most famous sevdah performer Amira Medunjanin is undoubtedly the biggest star of those mentioned so far. Through work with professional groups of musicians and performing in numerous concerts, she promotes Balkan traditional music on the World Music scene. Music journalist Garth Cartwright calls her "Bosnian Billie Holiday". She is the recipient, among others, of the prestigious award "La plue belle voix feminine 2012" and the award "PORIN" for the best female vocal performance in 2020.
The Queen group's traditional Vaicanto arrangements should take place in August, followed by a concert by Tereza Kesovija at the Forum (19 August). The end of August brings two interesting concerts: Gibonni & Matija Dedić will perform at the Museum of Ancient Glass on 22 August, and on Saturday, 28 August, Radojka Šverko at the Forum again.
The instruction of the Civil Safety Headquarters of Zadar County is not to allow mass gatherings this year, so our selection is primarily based on quality, not massive participation. The concerts will start at 9 pm so that after an hour and a half or two hours of the show, visitors can spend some more time in hospitality facilities on the Peninsula.
