Fažan

Fažan

A single-nave Church of St Bartol (St Bartul) with a semi-circular apse and a massive tower were preserved from the period of the Middle Ages in the location of Fažan (Kulina), located between present villages Kožino and Petrčane. Dating from the late 12th or early 13th century, it belongs to the type of fortified churches (church fortress). The church has a barrel vault and the remains of frescoes are still visible in its interior. The Church of St Bartol used to be in the hamlet, which bears the name Bartulac accordingly. During the 19th century, it was converted into a residential building and it is now a private property.
