The concert programme of the 8th Zadar Organ Festival opens with the interdisciplinary project Il Castello Interiore – The Interior Castle, inspired by the life and spirituality of St Teresa of Ávila.
Italian artists Erika Rombaldoni, David Brutti and Giovannimaria Perrucci bring together Renaissance and early Baroque music, the sound of the historical cornett and organ, and contemporary dance in a unique music and stage performance. The encounter between music, movement and the architecture of the Rector’s Palace Atrium offers audiences a different perspective on the historical repertoire and the expressive possibilities of the organ.

The renowned Croatian ensemble Trio Solemnis, comprising soprano Nina Kobler, violinist Krešimir Marmilić and organist Milan Hibšer, will perform at the Church of St Michael.
A special feature of the concert will be the performance on and alongside a valuable historic instrument from the school of Petar Nakić. The combination of voice, violin and organ reveals the richness of chamber music and the possibilities for dialogue between the distinctive colours and characters of the three instruments.

Young Croatian organist Mladen Bonomi will present a diverse solo programme ranging from Johann Sebastian Bach and César Franck to 20th-century music.
The concert will be performed on the Festival’s new four-manual Mixtuur concert organ. The programme will also feature music by Blagoje Bersa, one of Croatia’s most important composers and an artist with strong ties to Zadar.

One of the highlights of the international programme of the 8th Zadar Organ Festival brings together organ and accordion in a performance by two renowned French artists.
Vincent Dubois, titular organist of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, will perform alongside award-winning accordionist Marie-Andrée Joerger. The programme brings together two instruments of exceptional tonal richness, wide dynamic range and strongly developed polyphonic character, exploring their affinities, contrasts and possibilities for making music together.

The Antiphonus Vocal Ensemble, under the artistic direction of Tomislav Fačini, will perform alongside Zadar-based concert organist and musicologist Tea Kulaš.
Following their joint performance at PagArtFestival, the artists now bring their collaboration to Zadar audiences with a programme combining Baroque music and minimalism. The music of Johann Sebastian Bach meets works by Arvo Pärt, Pēteris Vasks and Frano Krasovac, creating a programme of remarkable spiritual and sonic intensity in which the human voice and organ intertwine.
THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA – SILENT FILM WITH LIVE ORGAN IMPROVISATION

The concert programme of the 8th Zadar Organ Festival concludes with a special audiovisual event: a screening of the iconic 1925 silent film The Phantom of the Opera, accompanied by live organ improvisation.
At the organ will be Jeremy Joseph, organist of the Vienna Hofburg Chapel and professor of organ and improvisation at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Throughout the screening, Joseph will spontaneously create the film’s musical accompaniment, using the organ as a kind of orchestra and responding directly to the atmosphere, drama and rhythm of the action on screen.
The project revives one of the organ’s fascinating historical roles from the silent-film era, while bringing it into the contemporary concert setting of the Zadar Organ Festival.
