The fado concert performed by Jelena Radan and a guitarist from Madeira tells the story of longing and unfulfilled desires - about saudade, about the greatest Amalia Rodrigues and the Portuguese people.
Jelena has been singing her fado for many years, which heals the state of indifference, as she likes to say. Fado found Jelena, and Jelena enjoys fado in the breaks between concerts of original music, and often connects them.
Pedro brought the scent of Madeira and skillfully arranged the songs that Jelena chose as the ones that mean the most to her.
The songs, the backbone of this fado concert, are those that take us on a journey of fate and will, sea and wind, fear and longing... Songs of Amalija's strong stamp, such as "Estranha forma da vida" ("Strange form of life"), "Tudo isto e fado" ("It's all fado")...
What is it that does not make us indifferent in fado, if the fado player performs it properly? Saudade is that feeling of nostalgia, longing, the painful emptiness of unfulfilled desires, but also a cry, pride, searching...
From 2005 until today, this concert program has been on stages all over Croatia, from the Culture Factory, open-air stages such as Trsat Castle in Rijeka, Baron Fortress in Šibenik, several theaters, culture centers, all the way to the Lisinski Concert Hall and many others.
The concert is held as part of the program "Embrace Zadar" which is the central event marking Zadar's entry into UNESCO heritage list.
