On Tuesday, March 20 th 2018 a contract was signed which guarantees the start of the Project of Creative Industries Centre, planned to be built in Zadar at the end of the year. The Grant Contract was signed by Nataša Mikuš Žigman, State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Crafts, Tomislav Peric, Director of the Central Finance and Contracting Agency for European Union Programmes and Projects, and by Vedrana Kevrić, Director of ‘INOVAcija’. The total value of the Project is 24 million kuna, of which grants from the European Regional Development Fund have been approved in the amount of 19.97 million kuna, which makes 83 percent of the total value of the Project. The start of Project implementation is planned for September 2018, and implementation will last for 24 months.
‘This specialized entrepreneurial incubator for creative industries with the focus on audio-visual and IT industries, should arise at Relja next to the future Natural History and Graphic Arts School. Space and equipment for IT workshops, deaf room with recording and tone studio, a multifunctional hall, offices, smaller coworking space and an exhibition space are planned as part of the Centre. Zadar Film Office will move to the future Centre, which in its new environment will be even more supportive to film teams, shootings but also to the development of creative professions because it will, besides offering the logistic support services, present a bridge between production houses and local creative people, who will acquire knowledge and skills in the new Centre. Zadar Film Office is the first film office in Croatia, and since its foundation for Zadar County area, 45 film projects have been realized with our support. We are very proud of this as well as the project of Creative Industries Centre which was highly rated and for which a significant Grant has been approved. The upgrading of the Film Office services and the construction of the Centre is a continuation of an ongoing process with the goal of developing this sector of economy, which has been recording a steady growth’, said Vedrana Kevrić.
The creative industries sector has been recognized as a sector that has considerable potential for the development of Zadar County and the City of Zadar and has been supported and included in the strategic documents of Zadar County and City. The Project holder is the County Innovation Centre which prepared the Project Application. The partner of the Project is Zadar County, and the associates are Zadar University, Natural History and Graphic Arts School, School of Applied Arts and Design, the Croatian Chamber of Economy - Zadar County Chamber of Commerce, Zadar County Crafts Chamber and Croatian Audiovisual Center HAVC.
