Exhibition of the World-Famous Photographer Jadran Lazić in Zadar
An exhibition of the famous Split photographer with a Hollywood address will open on June 11 in the small exhibition hall of the Rector's Palace, and entitled Jadran Lazić: 50 Years of Photography.
Lazić has been working in photography for fifty years, and after his first cooperation with school papers and Vjesnik newspaper he made his mark with photographs of Hajduk football players and domestic actors. His road in life led him to Paris, where he acquired his first world fame by photographing famous people as a paparazzo, and in 1987 he moved to Los Angeles. His lens followed the coming of Khomeini to power, the Iran-Iraqi war, the funeral of Leonid Brežnjev, the awakening of Palestine, kidnappings and blackmails.

During his career he met Robert De Niro, Marlon Brando, Joan Collins, Milla Jovovich, Mickey Rourke, Raquel Welch, Chuck Norris, Elizabeth Taylor, Paul Newman, Johnny Depp, Gillian Anderson, and Faye Dunaway. In 1977, he brought Jodie Foster to Split and left traces of all this in a memoir and exhibition.
His fruitful career bore fruit to the issuing of the Jadran Lazić – Photographer that is being promoted and to his travelling exhibition 50 Years of Photography . Until presently, it has been set up in u Zagreb, Sarajevo, Dubrovnik, Split, Šibenik, Hvar, Vis, Belgrade, Ljubljana… An international promotion with exhibitions in leading world metropolises is planned throughout 2002– Los Angeles, New York, Paris, Milano, Berlin, etc.

At the opening of the exhibition in the Rector's Palace, guests will have the opportunity of hearing interesting anecdotes narrated by the author himself concerning how certain photographs were taken, the tricks he used to persuade some celebrities to a photo session, details of conversations with famous people, advices to young photographers or those who wish to start photographing. Besides photographs, it will be possible to see and buy lavishly decorated memoirs in the Croatian and English languages.
