Zadar Has Gotten a Real Three-Star City Hotel: Hotel A'mare Works All Year Round

The rearrangement of the former Hotel Iž and the opening of Hotel A'mare in Voštarnica, has given Zadar a real city hotel that will surely contribute to the accommodation offer in our city which has recurrently been lacking.

The rearrangement works lasted longer than expected for the plan was also influenced by the coronavirus pandemic, and the most intensive final works took place over the past year.  The hotel officially started working on 25th November.

The pleasant ambience, finely decorated rooms and the location itself make this newly opened hotel very attractive both to tourists and the local population, who can come to the hotel restaurant for a very tasty coffee, as well as brunches at excellent prices. There is also a bar with a rich offer of drinks and soon there will be a happy hour.

The hotel has 115 accommodation units of which 11 suites on the fifth floor where two rooms are joined into one. They are double bed rooms with an additional bed for two or four persons. Among the mentioned 11 suites, nine are of 40 m2 while the remaining are of 35 m2. Most interesting are two suites with a special story.

- One suite is Luka Modrić, and the second is where the Ukalović family lived.  They are different. Luka's suite has retained its earlier dimensions, just like it was when he lived there. The Ukalović family lived there without any furniture, no electricity or water.

Two apartments with a specific story and they have a different floor plan than the others. - tells us the owner of the hotel, Anthony Ninčević.

The remaining 102 rooms are either double twin or just double rooms depending on the number of persons and where the beds are somewhat bigger. Hotel A'mare is a three-star hotel with very affordable prices and open all year long. Besides the restaurant, there will soon be another additional amenity.

- We are working on a gym that needs to be opened. It will be 250 square meters of surface area and located in the basement. It will be of an open type, because in addition to hotel guests, non-guests will also be accepted - Ninčević announced.

Concerning the restaurant, it will also be of open character and not only for hotel guests. On the contrary, very tasty coffee and tea are offered, as well as brunches at the promotional price of 55 kuna, Ninčević told us.

However, the restaurant also offers a la carte cuisine prepared by chef Ružica Jukičić, who worked at the BlueSun hotels for a long time. The restaurant specializes in gluten-free and vegetarian dishes, with a very diverse range of other dishes. It does not follow exclusively a Dalmatian menu, but the dishes are Dalmatian based and represent something new in the offer.

The restaurant itself has 120 seats and it is all a matter of space adaption, depending on the occasion for it can host various receptions, weddings, baptisms, corporate get-togethers, as well as various other types of events.

The ambience of both the hotel and the restaurant is designed to make everyone feel comfortable. When planning the decoration itself, they were guided by simplicity, practicality and maximum comfort.

- This is something we will long work on for we have made efforts to create as good a product as possible for the least expenses. It is a large investment and the style is semi-modern with clear lines but going back to retro. The design of the interior was done by Ivica Mamić. We came up with the concept together and then he made it a reality – Ninčević informed us.

Even though the hotel opened only recently, now the booking is at 30% which we are satisfied with considered the recent opening. The World Football Championship also coincided perfectly, especially the fact that our captain Luka lived in the earlier hotel.

That fact attracts attention and recently we have had very interesting guests, Nincević told us.

- Some Japanese people came with big cameras prior to the Championship. They came to film only due to Luka and we took them to his room where they fell into a trance. It was an incredible inspiration for them.

This new hotel in Voštarnica has finally revived that part of the city because an image has been created after years and years during which the old hotel stood empty and devastated. The city got a new building where a lot can be offered to tourists, where they can have breakfast and other services within their accommodation that cannot be gotten in their suite.

No tourist destination can be real without its hotels. In addition to working well for tourists, they also work well for the community because 40 people are employed, and at least 20 more in the tourist season. The hotel contributes much more to the community than the investment itself. It becomes a place more than just a hotel. – concluded the young owner of the A'mare hotel.
