The Music of the Night
On Monday, 13 July, starting at 9 p.m. in the atrium of Cedulin Palace, renowned guests from Slovenia, Raiven (Sara Briški Cirman), Željka Predojević, Gregor Ravnik and Simon Dvoršak, together with our Nera Gojanović, will take you into the magical world of musicals, performing songs from The Phantom of the Opera, West Side Story, Jalta, Jalta, Smash, Evita, Waitress, Chicago and many other well-known musicals.
The musical has its origins in the past as part of musical theatre, which developed across the world. It emerged under the influence of other music and stage genres in Broadway theatres. It gradually spread to Europe, and in the 1970s and 1980s London and Paris became the European capitals of the musical.
Original musicals have also been composed in Croatia, the best-known of which is certainly Jalta, Jalta by the duo Grgić and Kabiljo, first performed in 1971.
