Climate

Zadar is protected by a number of islands in the neighbouring archipelago from the influence of the open sea and by the Velebit mountain from the cold north wind, while its mainland coast consists of the vast fertile plains, the so called Ravni kotari. It is an area of undisturbed expansion, which is why Zadar differs from most other coastal and Dalmatian cities. Extremely favorable and mild climatic conditions correspond to this favorable location in the area, which is why meteorologists can say that Zadar and Zadar County are the climatic paradise on earth with the most pleasant climate in the entire Adriatic.
