Zadar holds many fascinating stories from its rich history, and one of them is connected to Georg von Trapp – an Austro-Hungarian naval officer and founder of the famous family choir, born right here in the city.
Although widely known through the inspiring story of the film The Sound of Music, Georg von Trapp’s life is deeply connected to the Adriatic and the Croatian region, where he spent part of his life, was educated, and started a family.
Through the themed walk “In the Footsteps of von Trapp”, visitors will have the opportunity to explore locations in the city linked to his life and legacy, while a panel discussion will offer intriguing insights and lesser-known facts about this historical figure.
The programme concludes with a screening of the iconic film The Sound of Music, a touching story of family, love, and courage that has inspired generations worldwide. Based on the autobiography of Maria von Trapp, the film explores universal values of family, freedom, and devotion that continue to resonate today.
The musicians who will perform are: Karla Neferanović (flute) and Ivan Vištica (guitar) with musical numbers from the movie The Sound of Music.
