Zadar Hosted ATL, Liman Continued to Dominate

Nikola Mitro and Bogdan Marojević from "Liman" won the ATL tournament for the fourth time in a row, defeating the team from Podgorica "Kurjaci" in the final with a score of 2:0 (12:4, 12:6).

"I express my gratitude to the city of Zadar, the local organizers and the Adriatic Teqball League for organizing an outstanding event that means a lot to all teqball players from the region. The quality of play is constantly getting beter and better, an of course we are happy that won once again. Now we turn to challenges that lie ahead - tournaments in Rio and Pula, as well as the final ATL tournament in Skopje." - Nikola Mitro concluded after yet another ATL victory.

The tournament in Zadar brought together 16 teams from five countries in the region - Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and North Macedonia. The participation of eight Croatian teams confirms the growing popularity of teqball throughout Croatia.

Teqball is an urban sport that is perfectly adapted not only to professionals, but also to recreational players, and it is also ideally used for the promotion of tourist attractions, due to the possibility of playing in different locations. This is how this sport was promoted at the world-famous destination, the tourist attraction -  Monument to the Sun.

"Considering the fact that this is the first edition of the Adriatic Teqball League in Zadar, I must say that I am extremely satisfied, primarily because of the large attendance, but also because today we clearly saw that teqball is growing in Croatia. At this tournament, we had eight teams from all parts of Croatia, including Nove Gradiške, Našice, Kostrena, Split, Dubrovnik and other places. I want to take the opportunity to thank our partners, without whom this event would not be possible. Special thanks go to the City of Zadar and the Mayor Mr. Branko Dukić, as well as our partners from the company Admiral Bet, Mr. Samed Hadžiaganović, and from Wiener osiguranje, Mr. Boži Šaravanja", stated the general secretary of the Teqball Federation of Croatia, Maks Dimov.

Croatian national team members with experience of participating in major international tournaments such as the European Teqball Tour in Budapest, Podgorica and Madrid, and the European Games in Krakow also took part in the tournament.

"Praise to the organizers for an extraordinary event in the very center of Zadar. It was an honor to perform and represent Nova Gradiška, and I sincerely hope that there will be more events like this," said the Croatian national team player, Dario Batalo.

Also, it was pointed out that the number of TEQ tables in Croatia is increasing, and in April, a Teqball field with two tables was opened on the outdoor playing fields of the Višnjik Sports Center. 

In addition to teqball, the TEQ table is suitable for games such as teqvolly and teqpong, variations of volleyball and table tennis, and is played on a uniquely designed curved table.

The story of the Adriatic Teqball League for 2023 is not over yet. After Bar, Sarajevo, Zlatibor and Zadar, the last stop of the summer tour will be Skopje, which will host the Teqball spectacle on September 23.
