The Petar Zoranić Square in Zadar carries the name of the famous Renaissance poet and novelist. You can reach the Square coming from different directions; streets, alleys and squares. Today, the Petar Zoranić Square is a place of gathering, amusement, and the location for the biggest city happenings and events.
The Petar Zoranić Square, located on the south-eastern side of the Zadar Peninsula, is encircled from the south by a sixteenth-century bastion, and from the north-west by the Proveditor's Palace. Once, here stood the Antique city gate with a monumental triumphal arch, and its kept and preserved remains, together with new fragments from previous times, testify to the continuity of an urban identity and openness to new contents.
