The island of Rava is situated in the Iž Channel, between the islands Iž and Dugi otok, and according to the geographical features it belongs to the group of small inhabited Croatian islands.
The island is known for olives, oranges, blueberries, blackberries, peaches and plums. Still, Rava is most famous as being the centre of the world. According to a legend and belief of its inhabitants, Rava is situated in the very centre from where the world is run by underground wheels.
Rava is an island in the Zadar archipelago, situated between the islands of Iž and Dugi otok, 16 nautical miles (30 km) from Zadar. The coast of the island is very indented with 13 bays and 15.45 km of coastline. The island surfaces are divided into properties by horizontal stone walls (mocira) and vertical ones (trmezal). The island is mentioned as early as the 13th century, when historical records mention the Zadar noble family Raua, who had their estates on the island.
The only settlements on the island are Vela Rava, situated in the middle of the island, and Mala Rava in the northwest.
