Molat
The island of Molat has been inhabited since the Paleolithic, and the first documents that mention the island date back to the 10th century.
It is situated in the northern part of the Zadar Archipelago, between the Vir Sea and the open Adriatic Sea. The coast is indented and diverse with a big natural port and a settlement called Zapuntel. The village Molat has two shops, a museum, bakery and restaurants. Car traffic across the island is allowed.

Molat is an island overgrown with maquis and pine forests and is an ideal destination for those seeking hiking treks with the scent of Mediterranean vegetation. The many bays are a frequent destination for boaters and sailors. King Edward VIII, in the company of Wallis Simpson, visited the island during his Adriatic cruise in 1936.
The village of Brgulje
With only one ferry a day, Molat really is far from the usual summer crowd on land. The island is covered by low-lying shrubs feeding a few goats and sheep. It is great to spend the day exploring the pretty coastline by boat. Some of the best beaches are around Brgulje, where the ferry docks, as well as bays Jaz and Lučina around the village of Molat.
