Activities
Beaches
Bathed in the blue gleam of the crystal-clear sea, Zadar’s entire city coastline is one continuous beach, widely enjoyed by its citizens and guests.
Besides that, Zadar is connected to its urban settlements with a long coast that stands for safety, purity, quality, accessibility and tameness, mostly appreciated by families with children.
City Beaches
Several city beaches are surrounding the city and turning it into an outdoor bathhouse. The Kolovare beach with its bays and city seawater pool is only a few steps away from the city centre, while the Zadar seafront called Riva, known for its beauty and purity, is not only the place for summer events, but also a favourite promenade and bathing spot for the youth. From Kolovare the path leads to the rocky beach Punta Bajlo, and the route towards Puntamika to a pebble and sandy beach at Borik. Borik disposes with an aquapark and beach bars, while the entire Diklo coastline is suitable for swimming. Vitrenjak is a beach backed by a marina with a playground for children.
Petrčane
Numerous pebble, sandy and concrete beaches that are backed by shadow-casting pines, with additional entertainment facilities, are adorning the picturesque suburban town of Petrčane. The almost 5 kilometres-long shallow parts of the coastline are suitable for children, while the steeper and deeper parts are more appropriate for those who are looking for a more dynamic enjoyment in the clear sea.
Zadar Archipelago
Countless sequences of tame coves, lovely bays and sandy beaches are located on the islands of the Zadar archipelago. Each island, out of the hundreds surrounding Zadar together with the Kornati islands, has its own story and the cleanest sea imaginable. Far away from big crowd, the islands offer the possibility of solitary enjoyment in untainted nature.
