Small Arsenal
The Small Arsenal in Zadar is a protected monument of culture and a part of the Medieval Castle (Kaštel), a separate structure that has been integrated in the defensive system of the city walls. Only some parts have been preserved, among which is the lower part of the entrance tower that was later transformed into a gunpowder warehouse.
By adaptation, conservation and restoration, the Small Arsenal became a visitors’ centre and the starting point for tours and getting to know the fortification system in Zadar. Architectural works affirmed all preserved historical layers of the Small Arsenal, which have been integrated into a unique whole that, apart from its visual attraction, reflects modernity as well.
