Besides the beauties shaped by rivers, canyons, cascades, isolated islands or mountains within five national parks in the direct proximity to Zadar, there are three additional nature parks that adorn Zadar's surroundings. Vrana Lake is the biggest natural lake in Croatia and Telašćica is the pearl of the south-eastern part of Dugi otok. Velebit is the mythical giant, a mountain where karst valleys, abysses, and mountain ridges meet.

The pearl of Dugi otok with especially beautiful beaches. The steep cliffs are emerging from the depths of the sea, as evidenced by some of the 220 bottlenose dolphins from the Adriatic. It's also visited by the peregrine falcon.
Vrana Lake Nature Park

The biggest natural lake in Croatia and a habitat for numerous wetland plant species. Vrana is an ornithological reserve so besides the excursionists it's also enjoyed by ornithologists.
