ADRIJO: A Digital Window into Zadar’s Maritime Heart

Have you ever wondered about the stories hidden within Zadar’s coves and ancient harbors—places that have served as the beating heart of the Adriatic for centuries? Thanks to the ADRIJOROUTES project, our city’s rich history is now closer than ever through the innovative ADRIJO digital platform.

The project’s name itself is a blend of the words Adriatico and Jadransko, symbolizing the profound connection between the two shores. This ambitious cultural network of Adriatic ports was established as part of the Interreg Italy-Croatia program, carrying forward a vision to preserve maritime heritage by linking eight key hubs: Ancona, Ravenna, Venice, Trieste, Rijeka, Split, Dubrovnik, and, of course, Zadar.

The goal is to create a unique "open-air museum" that seamlessly pairs the physical experience of exploring the city with cutting-edge digital content. On the local front, the Port Authority Zadar has played a vital role as an official project partner, collaborating closely with institutions such as the International Centre for Underwater Archaeology and the State Archives in Zadar. Their expertise has ensured that priceless historical records are transformed into a modern format accessible to everyone.

By visiting the platform, you can immerse yourself in high-quality videos that showcase Zadar from entirely new perspectives, uncover the mysteries of the Zadar Sphinx, or trace the history of the Gaženica port. From UNESCO World Heritage sites to the natural wonders of Telašćica, ADRIJO reminds us that Zadar is more than just a city; it is a living museum on the sea. We invite you to explore the platform and discover the true wealth of our maritime soul.
