Museum Night 2023

In 2023, the eighteenth Night of Museums will be held, an event that started in 2005 with a few museums in Zagreb, which has grown over the past years into the most significant event of Croatian museums.

And this year, by participating in the 18th MUSEUM NIGHT on the theme MUSEUMS ARE IMPORTANT, let's confirm the power of the museum, as in all previous years, with its programs, events, collaborations, availability and joy of participation and sharing of knowledge, education and information to thousands of visitors, who on January 27 In 2023, visit Croatian museums, archives, libraries, collections and numerous educational institutions.


MUSEUM OF ANCIENT GLASS


The museum will be open from 18:00 to 01:00.


Exhibitions:

- 7:30 p.m. - opening of the exhibition "Zadar loves glass" as part of the museum campaign "You are important to us", authored by the museum advisor, documentary filmmaker Jadranka Belevski. The exhibition is set up in a small exhibition hall of the Museum.

- 6:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. - exhibition "Shine and color - Glass shaping in the 19th century" set up in the large exhibition hall. 

- 6:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. – MiniMas - exhibition from the cycle of small-format didactic-informative exhibitions. .


Demonstrations:

- 8:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. – Glass blowing demonstration. This year, museum glassblower Marko Štefanac, along with guest glassblower Bojan Podhraški, will together demonstrate to visitors the making of antique glass replicas using the method of free glassblowing and mold blowing.

- 19.00 – 23.00 hours – Demonstration of making glass beads on the burner. Using multi-colored glass sticks, workshop leader and glassblower Antonija Gospić shapes glass beads and miniature amphorics using the technique of working on a burner.

- 19:00 – 23:00 – Demonstration of glass blowing on a burner. By heating tubes made of laboratory borosilicate glass on a burner, miniature bottles (lacrimaria) are made, which are manually coated with color in the further processing process. 


Workshop:

- 18:00 - 21:00 - on the first floor of the Museum, next to the interactive table, an educational corner for the workshop "Museum Headhunters" will be set up, where workshops will be held for children of various ages. 


Professional guidance:

- For all interested visitors this year, the Museum organizes expert guidance with a permanent exhibition that will be held every hour starting from 19:00 until 22:00.


Prize lottery:

- Visitors have the opportunity to win one of 10 rich prizes that are hidden among the free tickets that will be distributed at the entrance to the Museum.

Ten out of a hundred and ninety

It is a retrospective exhibition set up in 2022 on the occasion of the 190th birthday of the Zadar Archaeological Museum. The exhibition presents a selection of programs realized in the museum activities of the Zadar Archaeological Museum within the last ten-year period, and all Museum employees participated in its realization.

Virtual Ten out of one hundred and ninety

They will also present the retrospective exhibition Ten of One Hundred and Ninety in virtual form to the visitors of Museum Night. This exhibition, through a selection of digital programs realized in museum activities, not only gives a cross-section of the work, but also provides an insight into the application of modern technologies in the AMZd during the last decade.

There are thousands of stories told in the museum, but we miss exactly that one, still unknown – your story. And that's why if you have an interesting archaeological story, heard about a local legend or remember what your elders told you about Zadar from long ago, they invite you to share it with them. They will carefully preserve all stories, like archaeological findings.

Digital Museum materials by printing on a 3D printer / Dino Taras

In cooperation with the Vice Vlatković Zadar Vocational School, we introduce the public to artifacts that are most often presented in museum showcases through smaller, printed models. Also, visitors will have the opportunity to see what archaeologists excavate on the seabed and what the remains of the ship structure look like at the sites in Zaton and Pag (St. Nicholas Bay) after the sediment under which they were found is removed.

NATIONAL MUSEUM


On the Night of the Museum, on Friday, January 27, 2023, the exhibition pavilions of the Zadar National Museum, the Rector's and Providur's Palace, the City Lodge, the Ethnological Department (City Guard) will be open to visitors from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. In creating the program for this year's Night of Museums in the premises of II Palace, the Zadar National Museum was joined by the Zadar Concert Office and the Zadar City Library.


EXHIBITIONS

  • Exhibition One World, exhibition halls and the atrium of the Providur Palace


  • The One World exhibition, in this unique project of the National Museum's off-site exhibition for a period of two years, represents the entire temporal and disciplinary range of the collection with 199 iconic works of art arranged in thematic units.


  • Exhibition of photographs, insignia and uniforms from the Homeland War - exhibition on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Maslenica VRO, exhibition hall on the ground floor of the Duke's Palace


  • Exhibition Pierrot and Colombina; Clown and Ballerina; exhibition of costumes and masks, Educational Hall of the Duke's Palace, organizer: Ethnological Department NMZ. Idea and professional concept of the exhibition: Marija Šarić-Ban


  • Permanent exhibition Six Salon Stories - Historical Ambiences of the Zadar National Museum, designed by Hrvoje Perica, Ceremonial Hall on the 1st floor of the Duke's Palace, organizer: NMZ


  • Photo exhibition In the lens of Ante Brkan - the Dešpalj family, Providur's Palace Polyvalent Hall, organizers: Zadar Concert Office, NMZ Art Gallery


  • Exhibition of scenography and puppets from the play Beauty and the Beast, program of the Zadar City Library in cooperation with the Zadar Puppet Theatre


  • Exhibition of photographs by Miljenko Domijan Rovinj in the silence of its everyday beauty, City Lodge.

These evocative scenarios from Rovinj by Miljenko Domijan are the result of a very attentive photographic eye, which in its great shots can make us relive the true feelings and emotions that a historical core like Rovinj knows and can arouse, and testify that silence is often, as in the Rovinj example, synonymous with beauty.


  • The Art of Tapestry Exhibition; The collection of weavings and tapestries of Ivan and Ana Tomljanović (collection of the Ethnological Department - NMZ) and part of the permanent exhibition Ethnological Peculiarities of Northern Dalmatia, Ethnological Department (City Guard)


WORKSHOPS:


Mask making workshop using the lamination technique, Educational Hall of the Prince's Palace. Event time 18:30 - 20:00. 

Open-ended STEAM workshop for children from 4 to 12 years old (fun and educational experiments). Small exhibition hall of the Duke's Palace. Event time: 20:15 – 21:30. 

Dance workshop ENCANTO-OUR MAGICAL WORLD, atrium of the Providur Palace. The workshop is intended for kindergarten and elementary school groups starting at 6:00 p.m. and at 7:00 p.m. 

Beauty and the Beast, workshop for children, time 18:00 - 19:00.

The Beauty and the Beast workshop is intended for children and is thematically related to the exhibition that will be held in parallel in the library.

DEPARTMENT OF ARCHEOLOGY


The opening of this year's Night of the Museum will be organized by students of archeology who will take us back in time with the play "Shackles of Gold" by depicting the wedding ceremony of wealthy Roman citizens. After the ceremony, visitors will participate in a wedding celebration with ancient Roman specialties, which is organized by the Department of Classical Philology. The all-night program will be accompanied by workshops, where children (and those who feel like it) will be able to discover what is hidden under the Earth, but also what underwater archaeological research looks like. Throughout the evening, visitors will be able to view the exhibition of the Department of Archeology and the photo exhibition "Museum between Donatus and the Forum", and the atmosphere will be further warmed by the Figa Choir, which will be followed by a special reception.
