Porcelain Journey through the Silk Road | 100 best exhibitions

The Museum of Ancient Glass in Zadar participated in the celebration of the Croatian-Chinese Year of Culture and Tourism 2019 at the invitation of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia with the exhibition "Porcelain Journey through the Silk Road - Exhibition of Chinese Porcelain Culture" from the Museum of Chinese Ceramics in Jingdezhen, that was open for public  from October 11 to December 7, 2019.

On that occasion, an Agreement on Cooperation and Establishment of Friendly Relations was signed between the Museum of Ancient Glass in Zadar and the Museum of Chinese Ceramics in Jingdezhen, which officially made these two museums "partner museums" that will cooperate in the areas of exhibition exchange, international cooperation, academic research, scientific research projects, staff education, cultural heritage protection and promotion.

The Museum of Ancient Glass in Zadar has proven itself with this exhibition, as well as with numerous exhibitions over the past 11 years as a place of meeting and openness to various projects, a place of cultural life of the city and community, a place where visitors, tourists and most importantly residents love to stay.

The exhibition "Porcelain Journey through the Silk Road - an exhibition of Chinese porcelain culture" was seen by almost 2,500 visitors in the relatively less visited autumn period of the year, from its opening on October 11 until its closing on December 7, 2019.

In her opening speech, Ambassador Xu Erven emphasized that this exhibition is an extremely important event in the cultural exchange between China and Croatia and one of the most important in marking the Croatian-Chinese Year of Culture and Tourism in 2019, and that this cultural activity represents an important element   within the Belt and Road initiative, a modern version of the Silk Road, one of China’s major global economic goals.

The Museum of Ancient Glass in Zadar received a notification from Chinese colleagues from the partner museum in Jingdezhen that this exhibition, that has taken place   in Zadar, was selected in the 100 most important exhibitions in the competition of the State Office for Cultural Relics to promote Chinese traditional culture. Given that China has 5,354 registered museums, and about 2,000 projects have applied, the selection of the best and most valuable 100 is a great success for both the Museum of Chinese Ceramics in Jingdezhen and the Museum of Ancient Glass in Zadar.
