International Centre for Underwater Archaeology

The International Centre for Underwater Archaeology in Zadar (ICA Zadar) manages the complex of the former church and monastery of St. Nicholas, the renovation of which was co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund. The complex houses the Educational and Presentation Centre for Underwater Archaeology of St. Nicholas with various exhibits and interactive content.

The side galleries of the former church present a permanent exhibition of Croatian underwater archaeology, based on the research of the ICA Zadar. Through the archaeological exhibits on display, visitors discover the wealth of submerged heritage. The permanent exhibition is enriched with virtual content, tactile screens and VR glasses, which provide an insight into the interesting facts of underwater archaeology in an interactive and interesting way.

The ground floor of the former church is adapted to organize temporary exhibitions, but also serves as a multi-purpose space for seminars, lectures, concerts and other cultural and social events. The newly built pavilion in the courtyard serves as a venue for educational and scientific demonstration workshops for all target groups, but also as a space for seminars, presentations and interactive new content.

The reception building is intended for reception needs, a souvenir shop and a bookstore.

The entire space of the Educational and Presentation Center for Underwater Archaeology of St. Nicholas is adapted for people with disabilities, and all available content has been translated into English.
