The National Museum Zadar has been a stakeholder in the development of public museum activities since 1832, and its holdings today count about 100,000 items and represent the heritage capital of the identity of the city of Zadar and the entire Zadar region.
A proud custodian of the tradition and cultural heritage of the people in this region, today the National Museum Zadar has four departments - the Department of Natural History, the Ethnological Department, the Zadar City Museum, the Fine Arts Gallery; two regional collections - the Veli Iž Ethnographic Collection and the Mali Iž Cultural-Historical Collection; three exhibition pavilions, as well as cultural monuments - the City Lodge, the Rector's Palace and the Small Arsenal visitor centre; two professional services – the Documentation and Pedagogical Service, and Administration and Accounting as general services.
