This Winter Zadar is Connected by Air to Munich
The recent award for Best City Break Destination at the Croatian Tourism Days – which could also be seen as the best possible invitation to visit the city in the post-season – nicely complements the fact that Zadar will be connected this winter by air to a major European city and an important aviation hub.
Starting 28 November this year until 6 January 2026, Croatia Airlines will operate flights from the Bavarian capital Munich to Zadar. The route was introduced on a trial basis last year, and from this year it will be included in the marketing activities of the Zadar Tourist Board and the Zadar County Tourist Board in Munich and Bavaria. Connections with German business (B2B) journalists and travel agents have already been established.
“Targeted air routes that enable weekend arrivals, meaning short three- to four-day stays, are extremely welcome, and this winter connection with Munich fits perfectly into that concept,” says Iva Bencun, Director of the Zadar Tourist Board. She further explains the strategic importance of this route, which is both a literal and symbolic opportunity for both sides.

“This route directly contributes to the development of year-round tourism and makes it possible for visitors from Bavaria, especially for our Croatians living and working in Germany, to experience our city in its special post-season and Advent atmosphere. At the same time, for Zadar’s economy and its residents, this connection with Munich brings important added value, linking them to a significant European air hub. By a fortunate coincidence, this winter route follows the wonderful success at Croatian Tourism Days, where Zadar was awarded Best City Break Destination, and the Hyatt Regency Zadar was named Croatia’s Best Luxury Hotel.”

“This award is also recognition for the efforts of all tourism professionals – from private accommodation providers, restaurateurs, and travel agencies to event organisers. This certainly includes good air connections, which, we hope, will eventually enable short stays throughout the whole year,” Bencun concludes. Croatia Airlines will operate the Zadar–Munich route twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
