"The peak of the summer season is behind us, and by that we mean under normal circumstances the first two weekends in August. However, the period ahead is no less important, in fact, it is very important to maintain continuity and presence in the markets, especially in the context of positioning Croatia as a year-round destination. The announcements for the rest of August and September are good, but it is extremely important that we all continue to act responsibly and adhere to the prescribed epidemiological measures because this is currently the basic prerequisite for tourist traffic in the country, "said the director of the Croatian Tourist Board Kristijan Staničić.
Most tourist arrivals in August came from the German market, about 392 thousand, which is an increase of 1 percent compared to the same period last year. This is followed by the domestic Croatian guests with 294 thousand arrivals, which is an increase of 22 percent compared to the same period last year, the Slovenian market with 221 thousand arrivals, which is a growth of 6 percent and the Polish market with 193 thousand arrivals, which represents a 9 percent increase over the same period last year. Poland is followed by the Czech Republic with 111 thousand arrivals (94% of last year's result) and Austria with approximately 97 thousand arrivals (55% of last year's result).
Most arrivals were made in Rovinj, Porec, Split, Medulin, Crikvenica, Dubrovnik, Umag, Zadar, Pula and Novalja.
